Rangeview Primary School is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This is the primary focus of our care and decision-making processes and the protection of children is embedded in the culture of the School. While the School already has policies and processes in place to protect the wellbeing of children, these are now being strengthened to ensure a zero tolerance approach to child abuse.
The Victorian Government has recently introduced Child Safe Standards to improve the way organisations that provide services for children prevent and respond to child abuse that may occur within their organisation. These standards have been developed in response to the Victorian Parliament’s Betrayal of Trust: Inquiry into the handling of Child Abuse by Religious and Other Non-Government Organisations (Betrayal of Trust Inquiry).
Rangeview Primary School has been working to implement these new standards, which can be viewed on the Rangeview Primary School website under the Rangeview Policy tag.
The School’s recruitment procedures have been reviewed, and all new staff, contractors and volunteers will be informed about Child Protection as a part of their induction to the School.
The School has a diverse and wide reaching community, and our policies and procedures are applicable to all those who have interactions with the School and our students. The School’s Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct and Reporting Procedures are available on the School’s website for your information.
The School values your support to ensure the ongoing safety of our children and young people.
